TIL your scalp is skin, and most of you are treating it like a greasy pan
I keep seeing people say you need to scrub your scalp raw to get rid of buildup, and I think that advice is flat out wrong. Your scalp is skin, the same stuff on your face, and nobody would tell you to take a harsh clarifying shampoo to your cheeks every single day. I learned this the hard way about 8 months ago when my scalp got so dry and flaky that I swore I had dandruff, so I bought a strong medicated shampoo and washed twice a day. Three weeks later my head was red, itchy, and shedding way more hair in the shower than normal, and a stylist in Reno finally told me I had stripped my skin barrier and to back off. I switched to a gentle cleanser, dropped to washing every other day, and added a little jojoba oil on the dry spots, and the flakes were gone in about 10 days. The flaking was never buildup, it was my skin freaking out from me over cleaning it, and I bet half of you fighting "buildup" are doing the exact same thing. So before you buy another scalp scrub, what does your scalp actually feel like an hour after washing?
