The stylist next to me at Great Clips in Tampa said dry shampoo is just for oily roots and now I get why my ends were so fried
I was waiting for my mom to get her trim done and overheard the stylist explain that dry shampoo soaks up oil at the scalp but doesn't clean the hair shaft at all. I had been spraying it from root to tip every single morning for like 8 months because I thought more spray meant cleaner hair. Turns out all that powder was just sitting on my ends and drying them out bad, which explains why my hair felt like straw by the end of every week. Now I only spray the top few inches near my part and use a tiny bit of argan oil on the ends instead. Has anyone else been doing the full-length spray thing, or is it just me who missed this?
My sister did the same thing for almost a year and could not figure out why her ponytail felt so rough. Her trick now is putting dry shampoo on at night before bed, like 4 or 5 short sprays just along the part, then brushing it through in the morning so no white stuff is left sitting there. She swears the oil soaks in overnight and her ends stay soft. Meanwhile I went the other way and just started washing every other day and stopped buying the stuff completely.
