Beware of cheap disc brake pads vs quality ones
I swapped some generic $8 pads into my Shimano calipers and they squealed like crazy after just 2 rides. Went back to the name brand ones for $25 and haven't had a single peep since. Anyone else find that saving a few bucks just costs you more in noise and stopping power?

That $17 difference always ends up costing more in the long run.

Man this is SO true across the board. @skyler_kim nailed it - that 17 bucks is just the price of admission to not hating your own bike every time you brake. I've noticed the same thing with basically all consumables. Cheap toilet paper clogs your pipes and you end up plunging forever. Cheap tires wear out in like 6 months. Cheap brake pads screech like a dying animal and don't stop you when it's wet. People act like saving 10 bucks is a win but you always pay for it in noise, hassle, or worse - crashing.
