My buddy swore the first 3 episodes of Dark were boring but I had to push through
He told me to skip the first season entirely and start with season 2. I ignored him and watched from episode 1 anyway. Best decision ever because that setup in episode 3 lays out the whole family tree you need later. Anyone else have a friend give bad watching advice?

Episode 3 is literally where everything clicks into place, skipping that is like reading a book from chapter 5. Your buddy was trying to save you from the slow burn but missed that the whole show falls apart without that foundation.

Man, exactly! I had the same thing happen. My friend kept saying "just get through the first few" and I almost gave up after episode 2. But episode 3 is where you finally understand why everyone's acting so weird. The scene in the diner where the camera angles shift and the music cuts out suddenly - that's when I knew I was all in. Without that setup, the later twists just feel random and cheap. People who skip it are doing themselves a huge disservice.
