Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say he only watches shows with 3 seasons or less

I was grabbing a latte last Tuesday and this guy was telling his friend he refuses to start anything with more than 3 seasons. Said he got burned too many times on shows that drag on past their prime. I get the frustration but I think he's missing out on some stuff that takes a while to get good. What's the longest series you've actually committed to and finished?

3 seasons max? That's insane. I just finished The Simpsons and that's 34 seasons. There's like 15 bad seasons in the middle but the early stuff is worth it. You can't even call yourself a fan of TV if you're stopping at season 3. Some of the best shows don't hit their stride until season 2 or 3. He's missing out on a lot of good stuff.

Wait, did you actually sit through 15 bad seasons just to say you finished it? How do you even know when a show "hits its stride" if you're not willing to call it quits early?
