I used to roll my eyes at window decals. Not anymore.

My buddy put up those cheap UV decals from Amazon last spring and I figured they'd peel off in a month. Eight months later they're still there and he went from 3 dead finches a year to zero. Guess I'm buying a set for my big basement window this weekend.

Three dead finches in one year is three too many honestly. I used to think window decals were just for people who wanted to look like they ran a weird sticker shop out of their house. But my neighbor put up those frosted privacy ones on her sliding glass door last fall and I saw a robin bounce right off it instead of smacking into the glass. That changed my whole attitude about them. It's such a simple fix and it literally saves birds from cracking their skulls or breaking their necks. I'm sold now too.

Have you ever looked into those UV-reflective window decals that are basically invisible to humans but birds can see? They're not even that ugly, you can get them in cool patterns or just little dots that look like frosted glass. I put a set on my big living room window and haven't found a single stunned bird in two years now, it's wild how well they work.
