Warning: A robin hit my sliding door in Bend 4 days straight until I moved my feeder 3 feet
The old feeder sat 2 feet from the glass. I moved it to 10 feet out and the strikes stopped the next morning. Has anyone tried the paracord strips, and do they work better than the decals?
Moving the feeder really is the fix, no question. Same thing happened at my place a couple summers back, this one robin would not quit and I felt awful every time I heard that thud. Moved it from about 3 feet to like 12 feet out and the hitting stopped pretty much right away. The thing people forget is that decals and strips only work if the bird sees them before it picks up speed, and up close they just look right through them. Paracord strips do seem to help more than the plain decals in my experience, but they still are not as good as just giving the glass some distance. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather fix the setup than keep buying stuff that only kind of works.
