My copy of Twilight Imperium's board split clean down the middle during setup last night.
It was the 4th edition. Just opened the box. Heard a crack. The main hex board has a huge seam right through the center now. We had to use a roll of packing tape on the back to keep it flat. Game cost me $150. Anyone know if Fantasy Flight is good about replacement parts for something like that?

Yeah that's the playmat, not the board. The big neoprene thing is the map you build on. They're usually great about sending a new one if it's defective right out of the box, just contact their support.

My uncle still has the original Risk board from 1975, the one with the wooden cubes. That thing has survived three house moves and a flooded basement. You could probably drive a truck over it. The new one I bought last year had a split seam after two games. It's not just board games, it's everything. You pay more and get less.

Man, that's brutal on a brand new game. The_michael is right about their support usually being good, which is a relief. It just feels like everything is made a little worse now, you know? I've seen it with tools, with furniture, even with the plastic in toy boxes for my kids. Stuff just doesn't hold up like it used to, and you're left fixing something that should have been right from the start. Really hope they send you a new playmat without any hassle.
