Heard about a new weld procedure but the specs seem off to me
Just got the new weld specs for high-pressure vessels. The preheat temperature recommendation seems lower than what I've always used. Could this lead to cracking over time?

Yikes, a buddy's rig failed inspection last year from almost exactly that. They traced it back to a new spec with lower preheat.

Ugh that's brutal, hearing it actually happened to someone. Makes you wonder how many other rigs are out there ticking away with that same issue. Really shows how a tiny spec change can have huge real world consequences. Hope your buddy got it sorted without too much downtime or cost. Stuff like that just kills your faith in the paperwork sometimes.
