I thought I was saving money on thread, but my books are falling apart
Last fall, I bought a lot of cheap plastic-based thread for my book projects. After a few months, the bindings on several journals came loose. I found out this thread does not break down in nature and adds to waste. Switching to natural fibers like linen saves your work and helps the earth. Have you tried any eco-friendly threads lately?

My aunt tried to mend an embroidered pillowcase with some bargain bin thread last year. The whole thing unraveled after one gentle wash, little loops of color all over the laundry. It kinda makes you wonder what that stuff is even made of, you know? Maybe some materials are just meant to be temporary.

Does @king.lisa's aunt's story mean some companies plan for stuff to fall apart?

Actually, I've had cheap thread hold up for years, so maybe it's the binding method?
