Found a 6 foot tall nightshade growing out of a crack in a parking deck in Asheville
Last week I was walking through the parking deck behind the Aloft in downtown Asheville and spotted a nightshade plant easily 6 feet tall coming out of a tiny seam in the concrete on the top level. It had woody stems at the base and dozens of little purple flowers, so it had clearly been growing there for more than one season with basically no soil. I took about 15 photos and a cutting of a leaf to press, and now I keep wondering how many seeds are sitting in that crack waiting for spring. Has anyone else found a plant thriving somewhere it has no business being?
A buddy of mine found a tomato plant growing out of a gutter downspout on his roof, somehow fruiting and everything. He never planted it, birds must have dropped a seed up there.
