When I chose a fiddle leaf fig over a monstera 3 years ago

Back in 2021 I had a corner in my living room that could fit exactly one big plant. I stood at the nursery for 20 minutes going back and forth between a fiddle leaf fig and a monstera. Ended up picking the fig because my mom always had one when I was a kid. Three years later and that thing has given me nothing but drama - dropped half its leaves twice, got scale bugs once, and now it's leaning like it's about to fall over. Has anyone else regretted a plant choice based on nostalgia instead of what actually works in your space?
