The laser level guy at the supply house got me second guessing my line blocks
Was picking up mortar last Tuesday and this younger guy, full gear, starts talking about how line blocks and pins are outdated. Says he just sets a laser level and snaps a chalk line every course. I told him good luck keeping that line true in wind or after a few courses when the wall shifts. He didn't have an answer. I've laid brick for 18 years, never owned a laser. Maybe I'm old school but that string has never lied to me. Has anyone actually switched full time and not regretted it?
Read a forum post the other day where a guy said he uses a laser for everything now and never touches a line. He was doing block work too, but then admitted he still checks with a level every couple courses. Kind of tells you everything right there, doesn't it.
