That $9 goodwill vase ruined my whole fake flower setup
I stopped at the Goodwill off I-35 last Tuesday looking for a cheap ceramic piece for my entry table, found a heavy green vase for $9 that looked way nicer than anything at Target. Got it home, filled it with the same $2 thrift store tulips I always use, and suddenly my whole living room looked like a hotel lobby instead of a dorm. Anyone else have one random thrift find that made your other decor look stupid until you replaced it all?
honestly that vase did you a FAVOR in the long run because now you KNOW what your place could look like instead of settling for the sad beige dorm vibe. that one GOOD piece is like a spotlight showing you everything else is just filler. I had the same thing happen with a brass lamp from a garage sale, suddenly my couch looked like it came out of a dumpster even though it was fine the day before. the REAL trap is when you start upgrading piece by piece and end up with a whole new room you never planned on buying, that's how they get you. but hey, at least the goodwill vase cost less than a single throw pillow at a fancy store, so you're winning in the long run.
