That time I spent $60 on a fancy cheese board and regretted it instantly

Back in 2018 I saw this marble cheese board at a home goods store and it was $60 which felt like a lot but I bought it thinking it would make my dinner parties look bougie. First time I used it a glass of red wine tipped over and it stained the marble something awful. I tried baking soda and lemon juice and everything but the stain never came out. Would a $10 wooden board from a thrift store have done the same job and held up better? Has anyone else had regrets over a splurge that just wasn't worth it?

The marble stain thing is brutal, I had the same exact thing happen with a white cutting board I spent way too much on." You basically paid for fancy status that fell apart the second it met real life. Thrift store wood boards just get better with age and you don't have to baby them like some fragile showpiece.

Yeah I used to think marble was the way to go but you completely changed my mind on that.
