Frozen veggie bags vs fresh, I switched and saved $14 this week
I used to buy fresh broccoli, bell peppers, and green beans every Monday at the local Safeway. Last month I did the math and realized I was tossing about a third of it because I couldn't cook it fast enough. So I tried frozen bags instead, the store brand ones at $1.29 each. Honestly the texture is a little softer in stir fries, but for soups and casseroles I can't tell the difference. The real kicker is I spent $23 total on frozen for the week versus $37 on fresh, and zero waste went in the trash. My buddy swears fresh tastes way better and thinks I'm crazy, but my wallet says otherwise. Has anyone else made the switch or do you stick with fresh no matter what?
Did you notice a big difference in how full you feel after eating the frozen stuff compared to fresh? I'm with you on the waste, it kills me to throw away food I paid for.
