The $3 bag of dried beans I ignored for years finally won me over

I always bought canned beans because I thought dried ones were too much work for no payoff. Then last month I had a slow Saturday and figured why not try a pound of pintos from Aldi. Soaked them overnight, threw them in the crockpot with some onion and garlic, and ended up with enough for 4 meals for about 75 cents each. Has anyone else been converted from canned to dried, or am I late to the party?

Wait hold on, just a small thing - canned beans are literally just pre-cooked dried beans with water and salt, so you're not really saving time, just paying for the water weight and convenience. But yeah, the flavor and texture from dried is way better once you get the hang of it.

Does anyone else find themselves buying canned beans just for the convenience and then regretting it halfway through the meal? I tried dried lentils once and spent like 20 minutes picking out tiny pebbles, swore off them forever, but then my buddy made homemade baked beans from scratch and they were unreal. Now I'm stuck in this weird middle ground where I buy both and feel guilty either way lol.
