Tried bulk beans from Aldi vs the fancy brand and actually saved $4 a week
I usually grab the big name black beans at Wegmans for $1.50 a can. Last month I picked up a 4 pack of Aldi brand for $2.80 total. That's like 70 cents a can. I made my usual chili recipe with both and honestly could not tell a difference. The Aldi ones were a little softer but that worked fine for chili. Has anyone else found a store brand swap that actually holds up?

Whoa wait, 70 cents a can? That's insane, I didn't realize the Aldi ones were that cheap. I'm definitely grabbing those next time I need beans.

Yeah @grace_fox3 that's about what I paid too. I'm with you on the price, it's hard to beat 70 cents. I will say though, I once tried the store brand canned tomatoes for sauce and it was like eating watery cardboard. My wife still won't let me live that down. So maybe stick with the beans and don't get too crazy with the swap game. But for chili specifically, those Aldi beans are a solid win. I've been buying them for months now and nobody at my house has noticed the difference.
