Hostel vs Airbnb in Barcelona last trip - one was way cheaper

I stayed at a hostel in the Gothic Quarter for three nights and it cost me $45 total. My friend booked an Airbnb near the same area and paid $120 a night for just a room. The hostel had free walking tours and a kitchen where I cooked pasta and saved on eating out. She spent double on breakfast alone every day. Has anyone else found that hostels beat Airbnbs on price when you’re traveling solo?
