That $200 emergency fund I saved last month bailed me out of a car breakdown yesterday

I threw $200 into a separate account three weeks ago after reading a thread here, never thinking I'd need it. My delivery van's alternator died on the highway near Olympia yesterday, and the tow and part cost $187 out of pocket. Has anyone else found that even a tiny emergency stash takes the panic out of surprise expenses?
