Update: My emergency fund hit $5,000 this morning

I've been putting $200 from each paycheck into a separate account for the past year, and I just checked the balance. It's the first time I've ever had a real safety net, and it feels like a huge weight is off my shoulders. What's a number you were really happy to see in your budget?

That's a great feeling, congrats. For me, it was seeing my car loan balance finally drop below a thousand dollars. Watching that big monthly payment shrink over the years was a slow but real kind of relief.

Honestly that last thousand feels like it takes forever but hitting zero is such a win. Tbh watching the balance go down each month gave me a weird sense of control over my money. Ngl I started putting a little extra toward the principal whenever I could, just to see it drop faster. Makes you really think twice about taking on another big loan for a while.
