inI finally got my emergency fund to cover six months of bills
Yeah, that quiet feeling @coleman.jamie talked about is so real... had my alternator die last winter. Just paid the bill and got a coffee after, didn't even stress. Makes all those small saves worth it.

inSaw a whole shelf of 'Demon Slayer' manga at the airport in Chicago and it clicked
High-stakes, low-commitment" is a wild way to describe buying a giant wooden giraffe at the airport, charlesowens. What's the high stakes, that it won't fit in the overhead bin? The low commitment is you abandoning it at the gate when they make you check it for two hundred bucks. Next you'll be calling a duty-free whiskey bottle a calculated risk.

inHeard a shop foreman in Dayton say they're running a Haas VF-2 at 120% rapid override
Exactly, that's the whole point. They're just saving time on air cuts. But you're right, pushing the rapids that high for a long job is still a lot of stress. The wear adds up over time. It might not break today, but it's not doing the machine any favors.

inA drop of lighter fluid freed a stuck shutter that sat for a week in my ultrasonic cleaner.
So the ultrasonic cleaner is just for show, huh? Guess it's all about the chemical backup.

inThe day a $12,000 part turned into scrap because of a decimal point
