Am I the only one who didn't know about the original bullet journal key?

I was watching a video from the creator, Ryder Carroll, and he said the first key only had three symbols: a dot for a task, an X for done, and a > for moved. I've been using like ten different colors and shapes for years. Has anyone else tried going back to that simple start?

Saw my cousin do the same thing last week. She ripped out half her notebook and now just uses those three symbols. Says it finally feels like a tool, not a chore.

My buddy got so fed up with his own messy system he did a hard reset last month. He tore out all his old pages and started fresh with just a dot, an X, and that arrow. He says it's the only time his journal has ever felt useful instead of like a second job.
