Looking back at my first bullet journal from 2018

Honestly, I used to spend hours drawing fancy weekly spreads with a dozen colors. Ngl, it looked nice but I never finished a week. Last fall, I switched to a simple black pen and a basic daily log. The difference was huge, I actually used it every day because it took five minutes. Has anyone else found that simpler is better for keeping up with it?

Simpler is better" really depends on the person. I kept dropping my plain notebook because it felt like a chore. Switching to a nicer book and letting myself use a few colored pens for fun actually made me want to open it. The extra few minutes I spend on it now feels worth it because I look forward to doing it.

Totally get the "felt like a chore" thing. My buddy was the same with a basic fitness app, just checking boxes. He switched to one with silly badges and a goofy character that cheers, and now he's actually consistent. Sometimes the little bit of fun is what makes a habit stick, not just the efficiency.

Letting yourself use a few colored pens for fun" is the key for some people.
