My sister said my bullet journal looked like a 'work report' and it stung

She was flipping through my March spread and pointed out how every page is just black ink, task lists, and zero color or fun. She said, 'This looks like you're filing taxes, not planning your life.' I've been so focused on being productive I forgot to make it a place I actually want to open. How do you guys make your bujo feel less like a chore?

Ouch, "filing taxes" is a rough way to put it, but I get her point. The trap is making it all about crossing things off. Try adding just one stupid thing you like on each page, like a tiny doodle or a sticker from the mail. It doesn't have to be art, just something that makes you smile when you see it. Mine felt like a chore until I started writing down one good thing that happened each day, even if it's just "coffee was good." Turns it into a record of your life, not just your work.

My buddy started putting little weather drawings in the corner of his planner, like a sun or a cloud with a frowny face. He said it felt dumb at first, but now he flips back and remembers the whole vibe of a random Tuesday just from that. Totally changed how he saw those pages, like you said, from a to-do list to a little time capsule. He even stuck a gum wrapper in there once from a pack he shared with a friend, lol.
