Lost a $3,200 concrete pour because two crews showed up at the same time
Last Friday I had a driveway pour scheduled in Franklin at 7am, and my dispatcher sent the finishing crew to the wrong address. By the time I got there the concrete was already going off in the truck and we lost about 9 yards. I called the plant and ate the cost on two yards to keep the customer calm, then spent Saturday morning rebuilding the schedule board with color coded cards taped to the wall. Turns out the real problem was nobody owned the morning check-in call, so now one person calls the plant and one person calls the crew, and they have to say the address out loud. How are you all keeping dispatch and job sites in sync without it turning into a game of phone tag?
Well congrats on turning a $3,200 oops into a color coded art project for the shop wall. Nothing says "we have our act together" like taped up index cards and a mandatory address reading out loud like we're doing a spelling bee. Honestly the check-in call thing is smart though, phone tag never killed a driveway pour but a silent phone sure did.
