Our old inventory system finally gave out last Tuesday

We ran the same Excel spreadsheet for 7 years. It worked fine until it didn't. Last Tuesday it locked up during a stock count and we lost 3 hours of work. 450 line items just gone. Had to pull everything from paper backups we hadn't touched in months. What did you switch to when your old system broke?

Honestly, "worked fine until it didn't" is kind of the problem with those old spreadsheets lol. They work for way longer than they should so you get comfortable, then bam you lose a ton of data. We switched to a cloud based system called Zoho Inventory like 2 years ago after a similar crash, and it autosaves every few seconds so that kind of loss just doesn't happen anymore. The migration was a pain for like a week but after that we never looked back.

Solid sympathy man, that "working fine until it didn't" feeling is the worst (especially when you've got a bunch of manual data entry you know you'll never get back). We had a similar scare with an old Excel sheet at my office a few years back, corrupted file out of nowhere and we lost like a month of expense tracking. Luckily we had a partial backup (from like, the week before, so still a headache), but it pushed us into finally trying something with autosave too. Always feels risky until you actually make the switch, you know?
