Shoutout to my old boss who told me I was overcomplicating invoicing

She said 'stop using five columns when two will do' and I cut my processing time by half. Has anyone else simplified a process after someone called you out on it?

My old shop teacher in high school told me I was using 14 different kinds of tape for woodworking projects when I really only needed 2. That stuck with me because it's true everywhere - we pile on extra steps thinking it makes things better but really it's just noise. Same with sorting my receipts by month instead of just tossing them in one folder, or spending 20 minutes picking the right font for a sign that people skim in 2 seconds. Once you stop overcomplicating the little stuff, you free up brain space for the things that actually matter.

Just ditching the color coding on my spreadsheets saved me a ton of time.
