TIL my band saw blade was walking because of one dull guide bearing
Had a whole mess last week when I was breaking down a beef forequarter and the blade kept drifting on me. I figured the tension was off so I cranked it tighter and tighter, which just made the blade heat up and snap 10 minutes later. Turns out the top guide bearing was shot and had a flat spot, so the blade was never tracking right in the first place. A new bearing cost me $12 at the supply shop and it fixed the drift right away. I lost about 45 minutes of cutting time and a $28 blade over something that small. Now I check my guide bearings every Friday before the weekend rush. Any of you run into a blade that wandered on you and it turned out to be something dumb like that?
