Rant: A client in Austin asked me to build a cabinet with a 'secret' door that didn't open

Honestly, this guy named Mark wanted a full kitchen set and insisted one lower cabinet have a fake door that was just for looks. He said, 'I want to mess with my guests when they try to find the trash can.' I built it exactly to spec, and he loved it. Has anyone else ever had to make something that was purely for a joke?

Lock the cabinet with a simple padlock and hide the key. He'll get bored when he can't see anyone's reaction. I had a cousin who did this stuff all the time. The trick is to act like you don't even notice the prank is there. Total indifference kills the fun for them. They want the big scream or the laugh, so don't give it to them.

What kind of prank cabinet are we talking about, @maryshah? Knowing him, it probably sprays glitter or plays a really annoying song on a loop when you open it. I bet he spent more time on the trick than the actual cabinet. Classic Mark move.
