Saw a guy at a Best Buy in Austin zip tie his whole TV setup in 20 minutes
I was standing in the Magnolia section waiting on a pickup when an employee pulled out a roll of velcro straps and cleaned up a display wall in like 20 minutes flat. He said the trick is to bundle cables by where they plug in, not by what device they belong to, so you never have to trace one back. Been doing it that way for 3 months now and my media console hasn't turned into spaghetti once, anybody else sort by port instead of device?

Sorting by port is the way. I do it by where the cable lands, not what it plugs into. So everything going to the TV lives together, everything going to the receiver lives together. When you add a new box you just match the bundle to the port and you're done, no untangling the whole wall. The velcro straps matter too, zip ties dig into the cables and you can't undo them without cutting. Get the roll of reusable ones, the kind you can pull tight and rip open again, way cheaper than buying singles. Only thing I'd add is label both ends of the run before you bundle, because once it's strapped you can't see which is which. Three months is nothing though, wait till you move a console or swap a device, that's when the port method pays off.
