Switched from Klein to Greenlee crimpers for RG6 and wish I did it sooner

Been using the same Klein coax crimpers for about 4 years now. Last month I grabbed a set of Greenlee D914s on a whim from a supply house in Denver. First job with them I noticed the crimps were way more consistent. No random loose connectors that pass a tug test but still cause signal loss. Did a side by side on 50 fittings with each tool. The Kleins had 5 fails out of 50 where the compression didn't seat right. Greenlees had zero. Anyone else find one brand of crimper just works better for certain fittings?

Read some tech over on a low voltage forum say the same thing. They tested a bunch of different crimpers with PPC fittings and the Greenlees held better on the core and the jacket. The Kleins have that little wobble in the die that can mess up the compression ring if you don't hold it just right.

Had a buddy who used to swear by Kleins for everything, switched over to Greenlees after a bad job where his compression rings kept slipping. He said the die on the Kleins would wiggle just enough to give him inconsistent crimps, especially on the thicker PPC stuff. @grant.richard is spot on about that little wobble being a problem if you don't hold it perfectly straight. My friend ended up redoing half a dozen connectors before he finally blamed the tool, not himself. Now he keeps a set of Greenlees just for those PPC fittings and says it's night and day how solid they feel. I mean, maybe his Kleins were just a bad batch, but he's never looked back.
