The difference a day made on that old Beal Street apartment job

Last month I was pulling coax through a 4-inch conduit that had been sitting open for years. The first 50 feet came out easy, but about halfway through the pull it felt like I was dragging it through sand. Turns out there was over two inches of crud and old cable sheathing built up inside. I spent a whole day with a rodder and a shop vac just cleaning it out, and the next morning the same pull took about 15 minutes. Has anyone else run into conduit that looked clean on the outside but was completely clogged inside?

Had a buddy find three feet of dried mud halfway through a pull once.

Three feet of dried mud? That's insane. I've pulled some nasty stuff before but never anything that thick. I can't imagine the fight that cable had to be giving him, like trying to drag a concrete block through the ground. Honestly sounds like a nightmare scenario.
