TIL a squirrel chewed through a drop in Sacramento and I spent 3 hours chasing a signal ghost
Went back and forth on whether to rerun the whole line or just patch the bite, and I patched it, which held for 5 months. Do you guys rerun or patch when it's an animal chew?

Man, a squirrel chew is the worst because the little dude always goes for the same spot on the cable jacket. I had one get into a run behind a shed and I patched it with two gel-filled connectors and a whole lot of electrical tape, that thing held for almost a year. Why rerun 60 feet of cable through a crawlspace when the bite is clean and only one pair got nicked? What I do now is cut back past the chewed part, splice it, then wrap it in a piece of split loom so the next squirrel gets bored and moves on. If the tester shows good numbers after the patch I just leave it. No shame in saving yourself a weekend.
