Snake draft behind the TV got me defending the mess

Three years ago I moved into a place in Columbus and just shoved every HDMI and power cord back there without a second thought. Last month my buddy came over and started talking about zip ties and raceways like it was a crime scene, but honestly that tangle has been fine since day one. I unplugged one thing last week to swap a soundbar, found the right cord in about 20 seconds, and plugged it back with zero drama. Why does everyone act like a neat bundle is the only way when the mess is hidden and nothing ever shorts out? Anyone else just leave the chaos alone and never touch it?
