Took me 3 years to realize I was cleaning sensor brushes wrong

I always used to flick the dust off my sensor cleaning brush with my finger before using it. Spent forever chasing these weird streaks on my Nikon D750. Then a guy at the camera show told me you gotta blow it off with compressed air because the oil from your skin messes up the bristles. Anyone else do something dumb like that for way too long?

Is a tiny bit of finger oil really going to ruin your camera that badly though?

Compressed air is definitely the way to go. That finger oil leaves a microscopic film that attracts dust right back onto the sensor. Trust me, I learned this the hard way after a year of streaks on my Sony A7III.

@henderson.kim sounds like you have tales of dust bunnies too. Did you try waiting for a rainy day to clean it?
