My tent stove setup took 4 hours longer than it should have

I tried to set up my new tent stove in the dark last weekend in Rocky Mountain National Park and spent 3 hours fighting with the pipe joints because I didn't realize they needed to be aligned a specific way. Has anyone else had a tent stove setup that ended up taking way longer than expected?

Oh man, that sounds like such a pain. I've definitely had those moments where you just want to throw the whole thing in the trees and give up.

Figured you just shove it together and it worked, learned the hard way that pipe alignment is everything. My first trip with a new stove took twice as long because I was fighting the wrong joints in the dark too. Now I make sure to lay everything out and check the notches before I even think about lighting it.
