Rain ruined my cheap tent, now I bring a tarp everywhere
Last month at Lake Wenatchee the sealant on my $45 tent gave out around 2am. Water pooled under my sleeping pad and my bag got soaked. I grabbed a 10x12 tarp I'd left in the car and rigged it over the tent with paracord. It held for the rest of the trip, so now that tarp stays packed on top of everything. Anyone else keep a backup shelter that costs less than a tank of gas?
