Overheard a senior dev say 'your network is your net worth' at a coffee shop in Austin

It hit me that I've been coding alone in my apartment for 2 years. How do you actually start building real connections when you're remote?

That "coding alone in your apartment" line is so real. I was there. I started small by joining a local online meetup for JavaScript. I made myself turn my camera on and ask one question, even if it felt awkward. Later, I reached out to two people from the chat to talk about a project they mentioned. It felt forced at first, but those two calls turned into actual contacts who've sent work my way.

Honestly the hardest part is just hitting "join" on that first call.

Turned my camera on" is the key move. Everyone's scared to do it.
