Question about a job fair I went to in Denver last month

I saw a company rep there who was just sitting behind their table looking at their phone the whole time. It made me wonder, what's the point of showing up if you're not going to try and connect with people? Has anyone else run into this when looking for work?

Was it one of the big tech companies or a local Denver firm? I've seen that too, and it always makes me question if they're just there because HR told them to fill a seat. Did they even have any real info about open roles?

I just walked up and asked if they were the right person to talk to about their engineering roles. It forced them to look up and actually have a conversation. Sometimes you have to be the one to start it.
