That expensive chisel set I scoffed at 5 years ago is still going strong

I bought a cheap $30 set of chisels from the hardware store and they dulled after three uses on some oak. A buddy let me try his Lie-Nielsen chisel and it held an edge through a whole door build without resharpening. Who else has been burned by budget tools that cost more in frustration than the good ones would have?

Fair point, but a chisel's a chisel if you sharpen it right.

Wait, have you ever tried sharpening a cheap chisel every ten minutes on a real project? @reese_singh87, sure, you can sharpen anything - but my "budget" set takes more time at the stone than it does cutting wood. That Lie-Nielsen basically paid for itself in saved frustration by the end of the first door jamb.
