Been fast charging my Leaf to 100% for 2 years straight

I always thought topping off was fine until a guy at the Electrify America station in Portland asked if I wanted to kill my battery. Turns out keeping it between 20-80% is way better for longevity, who knew? Has anyone else been doing this wrong and only found out from a random stranger?

Ditching the 100% habit is honestly the biggest upgrade nobody talks about. I started capping my charge at 80% for daily stuff and only going full for road trips, and my battery health screen is still showing zero bars lost after a year. The guy at the charger probably saved you a ton of money down the road. Plus, the Leaf's battery management is already kinda conservative, so hitting that full charge constantly is like squeezing the last drop out of a soda can, it just wears the top out faster. Now I just plug in whenever I'm below 40% and it's way less stressful than watching it climb to max every night.

Capping at 80% worked for me too, my old Leaf still had all bars after three years.
