Why can't I find a working Level 2 charger in my own town

I spent 3 hours driving around Nashville last Saturday trying to find a public Level 2 charger that wasn't broken or blocked by a gas car. Three of the four stations I tried were completely dead and the one that worked charged me $4.50 for 20 miles of range. How hard is it for these companies to just keep their equipment running? Has anyone else run into this kind of thing in your city?

Ngl, you're kind of proving why gas cars are still king right now. People talk about EV infrastructure like it's a solved problem but then stories like this pop up and suddenly the convenience of a 5 minute gas station stop sounds pretty good. Tbh the market will figure it out eventually, but right now you're basically paying beta tester prices for the privilege.

Beta tester prices" lol that's honestly pretty accurate. I drove a Leaf for two years and learned real quick to always have a backup charging plan, like knowing where every Level 2 spot is near my grocery store. Not saying it's a dealbreaker, but you gotta treat route planning like a side job.
