inCold calling scared me for years, then one slow Tuesday changed my mind
How many calls are you making before you take a break? I do inside sales in a similar field and found that making 5 to 7 calls then stopping for a few minutes works way better than pushing straight through 20. Your energy drops and people can hear it on the other end. After a rough call, stand up, walk around, grab water, then get back on the phone. The bad calls are just part of the deal, they get easier once you stop expecting every one to go well. Keep at it because that 1 in 10 that talks your ear off is the one that pays.

inA field school instructor swore by trowel marks, and I finally get it
Tbh the trowel thing clicked for me too, but not because it finds more stuff. It's more about the marks telling you how the soil was moved, like if it was dumped there or just sat there forever. The scraper was probably just sitting in the right spot, not hidden from the screen.

inThe coffee shop WiFi trap that cost me $140 in gift cards
Man, that's rough. But here's something nobody talks about: even if the WiFi is legit, your phone might still auto-join a fake network with the same name later. I always forget to turn off that auto-join setting until something weird happens.
