Overheard someone say $5 footlongs are a rip-off now, and I had to walk away
I was grabbing a sub last Thursday at the one near the bus depot on 5th, and this guy in line was telling his friend how the $5 footlong deal is basically a scam now. He said the bread shrunk and the meat portion feels like half of what it was in 2019. I mean, I get it, prices are up everywhere, but I still think it's one of the cheapest ways to get a full meal downtown if you skip the chips and drink. That sandwich plus a water from the fountain is like $6.50 for me and it holds me through my whole shift. What are you all using as your lunch fallback when even the fast food spots start feeling overpriced? Has anyone found a better sub deal within the last few months, or is the sauce really just extra now?
