Got stuck on the Brown Line at 7:40am with no cell signal and missed my stop on purpose
My phone died somewhere under the river during the morning rush into the Loop last Tuesday, so for 25 minutes I just watched the city go by at Wells and Merchandise Mart and actually noticed which buildings block the signal, and now I leave the house with a charged phone and a paper map in my bag - has anyone else found a reliable dead spot map for the CTA lines, or do you all just wing it?
A paper map in your bag is such a good backup plan. I read a thread on r/chicago once where people were listing the dead spots on the Red Line between stations, and a bunch of them said the tunnels downtown basically kill your signal every time. So it's not just you, the whole system has spots where your phone just gives up.
