PSA: Lake Shore Drive construction is a total mess right now

I drove down LSD last Tuesday around 5pm and it took me 45 minutes to go from Belmont to Fullerton because they've got 2 lanes closed near the Wilson Ave exit. Crews are doing something with the barriers but nobody bothers to put up signs warning you until you're already stuck. Anyone else find a better route to get north side without losing your mind?

LSD has been a disaster for weeks now. 45 minutes for like 8 blocks? That's a "kill me now" kind of commute. Smart money is cutting over to Clark or even Broadway once you see the backup starting, but then you're just trading one parking lot for another. Honestly curious if they're ever going to finish this project or if we're all just gonna be living in a permanent construction zone.

That "permanent construction zone" line hits home. My buddy Mike tried the Clark move last Tuesday and said he sat through three light cycles just to get past Belmont. He texted me a photo of his gas gauge on empty and said he was ready to abandon the car and walk. He ended up turning down a side street and got stuck behind a dumpster truck for another 10 minutes.
