Old timer told me I was brushing too hard and wearing out my customers' flue tiles after only 3 years.
I switched to poly brushes on a lower speed setting and my last inspection showed zero new damage on a house I've been cleaning for five years has anyone else had to dial back their technique this much?

Wearing out your customers' flue tiles" sounds like you were going for a new OSHA record or something. I had to switch to a softer touch too after my first year of cleaning, felt like I was sanding down chimneys instead of cleaning them. Guess those old timers weren't just being dramatic for once.

Started noticing this same thing EVERYWHERE once I paid attention. Like how people treat their car engines with the "floor it everywhere" approach instead of letting them warm up gentle. Or how folks scrub nonstick pans with steel wool and then wonder why the coating peels off. There's this whole cultural thing where people think MORE FORCE equals BETTER RESULTS, when half the time you're just slowly breaking stuff and calling it "getting the job done.
