Why does nobody talk about how creosote log instructions are lying to you
I had a customer in Denver last month who burned three of those logs thinking it replaced a full sweep and ended up with a chimney fire that cost him $8,000 in damage, so when are we going to start telling people those things only help with surface buildup not the hard stuff?

those things only help with surface buildup" is the key part nobody reads. I had a buddy who used them for years and thought it was a real cleaning, then his inspector found so much glazed creosote he had to reline the whole chimney.

Wouldn't that depend more on what kind of wood he was burning and how often he actually swept it? I've seen plenty of people get good results with the chemical logs when they also do a manual brush clean once a year. @park.adam I think that story says more about your buddy's routine than the logs themselves, don't you?
