Chat with my uncle about dehumidifiers changed how I store my '72 Mustang
My uncle came by my garage last weekend to check out my Mustang project. He saw the cheap dehumidifier I had running and just laughed, told me I was basically just moving the moisture around instead of removing it. He pulled up the specs on his phone and showed me how mine had a compressor that was way too small for a 2-car garage space. Honestly, I never even thought about the size matching the room, I just grabbed the first one at the hardware store. Has anyone else had to upgrade their setup after realizing the math didn't work?

Your uncle was dead right on that... I learned the same hard way with my shop space. Bought a little 30-pint unit thinking it'd handle a three-bay garage and all it did was run constantly with nothing to show for it. Swapped it out for a 70-pinter that actually matched the square footage and the difference was night and day, stopped worrying about rust on my tools and parts. Funny how something as simple as reading the specs can save you a whole lot of headache down the road.

And on top of the sizing thing, nobody ever talks about how those cheap plastic drain pans crack after a season or two, especially if you live somewhere with real temperature swings. Might be worth going up a little on price for a metal pan model if you're planning on keeping it awhile.
